Disquieting Nature

In 2011 German visual artist Christine Meisner invited Tatge to collaborate on her Disquieting Nature project.
The work combines video, drawings and lyrics by Meisner with Tatge’s music, and deals with violent incidents that were absorbed into the landscape of early country blues in Mississippi. Tatge contributed a long suite which was recorded in Brooklyn in 2012 and features himself on piano, Larry Brown on vocals, Anders Nilsson on guitar, Craig Akin on bass and Kenneth Salters on drums.

The work was performed live with the full band for a screening at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin during Documentary Forum 2.
The work was also shown at the Walther Collection Project Space in New York City, Centre Pompidou in Paris, Mumok Cinema in Vienna, and at the Marseille and Rotterdam film festivals.

The Freedom Of

In 2016 Tatge collaborated again with Meisner on a multimedia installation concerning the Jazz Hour program transmitted by the Voice of America radio station during the Cold War, the spreading of jazz music beyond the Iron Curtain, and the attempts that were made to block these transmissions through signal jamming.
The music for Meisner’s video was scored for four horns and drums. The recording features Adam Kolker, Caleb Curtis, Josh Lawrence, Jacob Garchik and Mark Ferber.
The Freedom Of premiered at the Taipei Art Biennial in Taiwan in January 2017.

Massimo Carrozzo

Tatge and clarinetist Massimo Carrozzo have been collaborating on improvised music in a duo format since the early 2000s.

Felix Pastorius - Social Experiment

Tatge was a member of Felix Pastorius’ Social Experiment until 2015. The group, featuring Pastorius on bass, Chris Ward on saxophone and Devin Collins on drums, performed regularly around New York City.

They were also heard at the Montreal Jazz Festival and at the Jazz Café in San Jose, Costa Rica.
